There’s a certain stuffiness that comes with a name like the “Lexington Opera House." Even though the theater has welcomed a variety of national, regional and local talent, the term “opera” can imply the building only host operas, Franklin told me. "People just enjoy being up here (on the stage) and going 'wow, this is what it feels like,'" Franklin told me. Some people had never been in the theater before the golf course opened in December let alone seen what the audience looks like from the stage. Instead, they’re letting the 135-year-old opera house use its own charm to set the scene for this unique chapter in its history.
